Top prizes were won by Asu Maya Gurung (ex-Southwark College) and Mousab Ali (ex-Harris Academy, Peckham), who jointly won the Kevin Keohane prize for Excellence in Science, and Kanayo Dike-Oduah (ex-Virgo Fidelis Convent School), who won the Vivienne Egesi Prize for Contribution to the SFX Community. A Good Day for SFX A Level Stars
With a 98% pass rate in this year’s A Level results the students of St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College have good reason to celebrate. These outstanding results mean that the vast majority of the 500+ A Level students at the sixth form college in Malwood Road, Balham, will be able to take up their places at their first-choice universities.
SFX Principal Stella Flannery commented, “I am so pleased for our students and staff - these great results are a tribute to the hard work, determination and ambition of everyone at SFX. I would particularly like to pay tribute to the strong support we have had from parents in making sure that our students have the right attitude towards their studies.”
OFSTED Gives SFX Community Education Special Mention
It often surprises SFX students who leave College slightly later in the day when they bump into the 1500 or so adults who attend SFX in the evening for our Community Education evening classes. These classes have now been established for over 13 years and are an important aspect of SFX’s role in the local community. The wide range of classes includes art, languages, dance, fitness, digital photography and floristry, with song-writing, Japanese and Zumba as the most recent additions to the programme.
