Autumn Term House Days at SFX

Published • News
The first House Days of the year took place in the first half of the Autumn term. It was an opportunity to welcome the new SFX students and welcome back returning students.

First year students were given the chance to get to know one another better. taking part in team-building activities in their tutor groups, including the "Spaghetti tower challenge", a challenge in which they had to build the tallest freestanding tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows. They also spent time as a tutor group researching and voting on their house charity for the year, which they will be supporting by holding fund-raising events. They were then given the opportunity to take part in a choice of sport activities including basketball and badminton, and to find out more about the sport enrichment available to them at SFX.

For year 13 students, the house days were focused on university applications and their next step after college.  As well as taking part in the tutor group team building and charity selection, a visitor from Anglia Ruskin university held a session with the students to give tips for writing their UCAS personal statements and they received training on the UCAS system and how to use Unifrog - a platform that helps students to research their next steps and assists them with their applications to university or apprenticeships.
