In September 2015 we saw the launch of a three-stage programme of national reform for A levels. The reform entails a move away from the modular AS/A2 structure to a linear model in which all external assessments will be taken at the end of the two-year A level course. From September 2017 all A levels will follow the two year linear model.
Progression: The majority of students following an A level programme progress to university. A small minority of students seek employment on completion of their course.
Assessment: in your first year you will have internally assessed examinations at the end of each term. Progression on to the second year of the A level will be dependent upon performance in these assessments. In the second year you will sit internally assessed examinations at the end of the Autumn and Spring terms and external public examinations in the Summer term.
Students enrolling at SFX in September 2017 will typically choose three A level subjects to study over two years.
