The T Level Technical Qualification in Management and Administration is a two-year, full-time course equal to three A levels.
This course is perfect for those interested in pursuing a career in Business Management or Administration, as the course specification has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares learners for work. 80% of the T level is classroom based, and for the other 20% (45 days total) the learner will be in an industry work placement.
The qualification is made up of two components. In the
Core Component you will gain a broad understanding of the Management and Administration industry, how it operates and the job roles available. The skills and knowledge you learn in the Core Component will be applied and further developed during the 45 day industry work placement. The Core Component is assessed through a combination of two
exams and and an
employer-set project.
In the
Occupational Specialism Component, you will focus on one specialist area to develop your knowledge, completing
practical assignments and coursework to demonstrate your proficiency in the specialism.

Through the Core Component learners will gain an understanding of:
1. Business Context:
- types of organisations and the environments in which they operate
- how size, purpose and sector impact them
- the economic, social, and environmental impacts of organisations
- legal entity types that organisations can form
- the different forms of governance that operate in organisations
- the main legislative and regulatory frameworks that apply to organisations
- different types of internal and external stakeholders and customers
- organisational objectives and strategies for achieving them
- different types of stakeholders and customers
- impacts of current and emerging digital technologies
- organisational culture and values
- the different methods and channels through which organisations communicate
2. People:
- the legislation which governs the employee lifecycle
- the ways in which different types of organisations ensure that they have the right people to meet their business aims
- the value and benefits of an equal, diverse, and inclusive workforce to an organisation
- the importance and impact of employee well-being and resilience in organisations
- different approaches to the way people are managed
- approaches used by organisations to ensure that individuals develop the skills they need to contribute effectively to the organisation and its changing needs
- team working and methods of working as part of a team
3. Quality and Compliance:
- the importance of maintaining and improving quality in all aspects of public and private sector organisations
- how quality is measured through quality standards
- the role of regulatory bodies and inspections.
4. Finance:
- Common terms used in financial reporting
- The role and purpose of financial reporting
- sources of finance for different types of organisations
- different forms of expenditure and how revenue
- expenditure are tracked and controlled.
5. Policies and Procedures:
- How organisations develop policies and procedures and why
- establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
6. Project and Change Management:
- Drivers of organisational change
- reasons why organisations need to make continuous improvements and innovations
- common change management theories and model
- project management methodologies and approaches
- project management tools and approaches
- how to support and improve projects through research, evidence, and evaluation methods
7. Business Behaviour:
- the importance of good communication and adapting social communication styles to professional standards and according to purpose, medium and audience
- the importance of self-management approaches
- the importance of individuals’ adapting their behaviour to the expectations and policies of the organisation including through compliance with codes of conduct and ethics
- the importance of acting with integrity and building trust with stakeholders and colleagues.
OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALISM COMPONENT - assessed through practical assignments/ coursework in one of the following areas:
- Business Improvement
- Team leadership/Management
- Business Support
Final grade based on a combination of exams, an employer-set project and practical assessment/coursework.
Good route for progression into a employment or a higher apprenticeship. The T Level is equal in terms of UCAS points to three A levels, so University is also an option.
5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Grade 5 in Maths and Grade 5 in English Language.
