On Wednesday 1st February 2017 we held our annual Open Day Fair, which was an opportunity for everyone thinking about joining the college in September 2017 to find out more information and get any questions answered. We were so impressed with the turn out, almost 400 visitors braved the rain to come and see us! Our Student Ambassadors had given up their free time to help out, and were at the door welcoming and directing everyone as they arrived.
In the Sports Hall was the Course Zone, where there were 30 stalls each representing a course or department. Our teachers and students there to explain what each course involves, give their opinions and answer any questions.
You could also find the Support Zone in the Sports Hall. Our Chaplain Ian was on the Chaplaincy and Chapel stall with students from the Charity Committee. Our Additional Learning Support team and Careers Department were on hand to offer advice, with the Learning Resources Centre (LRC) team showing what we have on offer in our excellent library and study areas. One parent told us how much she appreciated the Careers stall for explaining the UCAS system and making course requirements understandable.
There were two opportunities to hear from the Principal, Stella Flannery, in our beautiful Chapel. Stella explained why choosing a Sixth Form college is a good option for young people, gave a summary of SFX results and progression rates to university.
Many of the attendees dropped in to our Application Zone, where they were able to make their way through the online application with students and staff on hand if they needed any assistance.
We received some very positive feedback from visitors as they were leaving, Kiah told us “It was really informative. I have more of an idea of what to choose now,it’s helped me to decide.”, Andre said “It was good. There is more choice of subjects to study here and I got to know what other options there are.”
If you didn’t manage to make it to the Open Day Fair and still have some questions, please email email@example.com and we will be happy to help.
Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope you enjoyed it!
