Welcome to Physics at SFXAS and A level physics qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding and process skills that you will have developed in GCSE science. Students are expected to have achieved at least a B grade in Physics or a BB in science (Double Award). It is necessary to have achieved at least a B grade in higher tier mathematics (knowledge of algebra and trigonometry as well as interpretation of graphs is vital). Communication is also important in physics so you will need to be able to communicate effectively, be able to research and critically think about problems. Physics A level is a very good indicator of a students academic ability, and is therefore highly regarded by most university departments including Law and Accountancy. In particular, Physics is recommended for those wishing to study Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Architecture or Medicine at degree level. It is recommended that for Science based degree courses, students should take the Physics A level course as well as Mathematics and Mechanics A level. |
