Level 3 BTEC Courses
BTEC Extended Diploma (Level 3)
BTEC Extended Diploma qualifications are full time courses which are equivalent to three A Levels. The courses allow you to specialise within a particular subject area and study a range of units related to that area.
Progression: Progression on to year 2 of this qualification is dependent upon the successful completion of year one plus satisfactory completion of the core curriculum. On completion of the Extended Diploma the majority of students progress to university to study their subject at degree level. Some students seek employment on completion of the qualification. The courses develop a wide range of skills and aptitudes which are valued by employers.
Assessment: This 18 unit qualification is continually assessed and students will build a profile of unit outcomes. Units are awarded a pass, merit or distinction; the overall outcome for the diploma is also a pass, merit or distinction. A distinction profile (DDD) provides the same UCAS points as three grades A at A Level.
Minimum Entry Requirements: 6 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or Maths at Grade C OR BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit with English or Maths at Grade C
BTEC Diploma (Level 3)
This qualification shares the same characteristics as the BTEC Extended Diploma but is composed of only 12 units and is the equivalent of two A Levels.
Minimum Entry Requirements: 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English or Maths at Grade C OR BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit with English or Maths at Grade C
