Introduction:
The GCSE English Language course offers students another chance to obtain a GCSE Grade C qualification in English Language that is widely required by employers and an essential part of the matriculation requirements for higher education. It is also an entry requirement for many AS Level and Level 3 courses at this college and elsewhere. Please note, however, that the entrance requirement at SFX for all AS Level English courses is a Grade B in both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature.
Exam Board: New GCSE English and GCSE English Language courses become available for examination for the first time in June 2012 and therefore to be taught in a college context from 2011. We will certainly be offering students the opportunity to improve their performance at GCSE English (or to sit the examination for the first time), but the choice of examination board and course is currently under review, pending the evolution of the new range of specifications.
Specific Course Entry Requirements: Grade D in English Language
Additional Information: Applicants not holding a D grade may be considered subject to availability of places.
