Introduction:
English Literature is a versatile, challenging subject, combining well with a number of other a-level subjects. You will need to hold a grade B in GCSE English Literature and grade B in GCSE English Language to be admitted onto the course. You will also need an ability to write essays, a willingness to read and a fascination with the use of language in a variety of literary contexts.

Specific Course Entry Requirements: In addition to the Minimum Entry Requirements you will need a grade B in GCSE English Language and grade B GCSE English Literature. Applicants with a grade C in English Literature may be considered subject to availability.
Additional Information: Applicants with a Grade C in English Literature or Grade C in both English Literature and English Language may be considered subject to availability. You will also need an ability to write essays, a willingness to read and a fascination with the use of language in a variety of literary contexts. Students who are committed to a study of English at degree level may wish to consider taking also the AS in English Language for the first year before specialising in one or the other in year two.
