A Level Media Studies

course minisite

media1

Introduction:

A stimulating opportunity to choose a new area of study that takes as its subject the contemporary products of popular culture, refines your awareness of the semiotics of the still and moving image and develops your confidence at self-expression.  You will be expected to work independently, to develop your own creative initiatives and gain a working familiarity with the digital media such as blogs and websites.  The course requires a high level of commitment from students in terms of production time after college hours (similar to Art) and is not for the faint-hearted.

Exam Board: OCR

Specific Course Entry Requirements: In addition to the Minimum Entry Requirements you will need a grade B in GCSE English Language.

Additional Information: You must also be prepared to take the initiative in developing your production project in your own time. Good attendance and punctuality are an essential criterion for progression to year two where you will work in a production partnership.
