The 180-credit BTEC Extended Diploma extends and deepens the specialist work-related focus. The four core units provide students with an introduction to and understanding of the business environment, management of resources, marketing and communication – all fundamental to the success of business organisations. Ten further units give students a deeper look into more specific areas in business. The specification also addresses sector needs and skills gaps in areas such as finance, administration and management. “Students complete work experience as part of the course, preparing them for future employment.”

Assessment will be internal and external. A student achieving three distinction grades for the overall course has a qualification that is equivalent to three A grades at A level.
With this qualification students will be able to progress to degree courses including Business Studies, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Business Combined, Business IT, Business and MIS Systems. Alternatively students can go into employment in a business related area, such as retail, administration, accounts and supervisory roles.
