BTEC Applied Science 002

This is a two year full-time course designed to provide experience of activities carried out by scientists. It allows students to apply and build on their existing science knowledge, skills and understanding in an industry-related context. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be qualified to seek employment or undertake further study, such as HND/degree courses in an applied science-related subject.

  • Course assessment...

    Assessment is carried out through a wide variety of internally set and marked assignments. These will include traditional written and word processed assignments, research tasks, practical investigations, presentations, field trips, industry visits, work placements and a very enjoyable residential trip to Brecon Beacons. Some units will be assessed through externally assessed examination.

  • This course can lead to...

    This qualification will enable you to progress to a wide range of degree courses including: Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Radiology, Dental Technology, Physiotherapy, Midwifery, Nursing and Sports Science. Alternatively, it can lead to direct employment in a science-related area, such as laboratory work.

     

    PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to become a doctor, veterinary surgeon or dentist you will be required to complete an additional access/foundation course organised by the accepting medical school.

    In addition to our Programme Entry Requirements, applicants must also meet specific Course Entry Requirements:

    Grade 4 in Core Science, Grade 4 in Additional Science and Grade 4 in Maths
    OR
    BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Science with Merit and Grade 4 in Maths
