This course aims to provide students with a balanced education in politics. Subject areas covered in the first year include democracy, political parties and the role of Parliament, with a focus on the UK system.
In the second year students study political ideologies such as socialism and conservatism and movements such as feminism. Students will also study global politics, looking at issues such as terrorism and international peace keeping. This is an ideal course for anyone interested in current affairs and political ideas.

Assessment is 100% examination based. This will be the first year of the new linear Politics A level so will be assessed at the end of year 13.
This subject is useful for anyone wanting to study Law, Politics, Philosophy, History, Journalism (or any other subject) at university. Students with Politics A level often progress to careers in Law, management and politics

In addition to our Programme Entry Requirements, applicants must also meet specific Course Entry Requirements:
Grade 5 in English Language
Applicants with a Grade 4 in English Language and a Grade 5 in other humanities subject will be considered subject to availability
