You will learn to analyse, compare and understand a wide variety of literary texts of all genres: poetry, drama and prose. Literary eras will cover modern and classic texts focuses on a balance of modern and classic texts.
Unit 1: Drama and Poetry pre-1900
Unit 2: Comparative and Contextual Study
Unit 3: Literature Post-1900
The A level will be assessed in two examinations and a coursework folder of analytical work.
The course forms excellent preparation for the wide range of English courses available in higher education. English Literature is considered a ‘facilitating subject’ by Russell Group universities. Progressions to careers in Journalism, Law, Publishing, the Civil Service, Politics and Teaching.
