Core Curriculum

St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College is a Catholic college that has a special vision of education. We believe that:

  • Each person possesses a dignity that comes from God, regardless of accomplishment, race, gender, age or status.
  • Education is primarily about human flourishing.
  • We all need to communicate effectively, build successful relationships and establish beliefs and values to live by.
  • Skills are developed in order to draw out the full potential of each person.
  • In adult life, personal qualities are as important as academic qualifications.

All students follow a compulsory core curriculum in addition to their main learning programme.

This comprises:

1 Religious Education
2 Tutorial Programme

Dominic

Dominic came to SFX from St Thomas the Apostle College to take A Levels in Biology, Sociology, Psychology and PE. For him the Catholic ethos at SFX was particularly important, as well as the good level of teaching he had heard about.

He aims to study Philosophy and English at university with possible careers in counselling or journalism in mind.

His motto? “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great, so work hard!”
