SFX an Outstanding College - OFSTED

OFSTED inspectors have confirmed again that St Francis Xavier College is an outstanding college.  During their visit the inspectors visited classes and spoke to a wide variety of SFX staff, students, parents, governors and other college “stakeholders” before coming to their conclusion that “the overall effectiveness of the provision is outstanding”.

On this inspection the focus was very much on the ethos of the college as well as the teaching and learning and one of the key strengths identified by the inspectors is the “very strong and supportive Catholic ethos.”  Other highlights in the report are:
“ consistently high success rates, especially on advanced courses”, “excellent progress by students on a wide range of programmes”, “outstanding guidance and support for students “ outstanding teaching and learning,” “outstanding promotion of equality of opportunity” – below is the table of grades awarded:

On announcing the OFSTED inspectors’ findings to the staff at SFX Principal Bernie Borland reminded everyone that grades 1&2 are the top OFSTED grades and the college should be very proud of its record of never receiving less than grade 2 at any inspection – a “full house” of grade 1s is definitely something to celebrate.
